4x6 Direct Thermal Labels – 3" Core, 1,000 Labels Per Roll

Our 4x6 direct thermal labels with a 3-inch core are built for high-volume shipping, warehousing, fulfillment, manufacturing, distribution, and inventory operations. With 1,000 labels per roll, these large industrial rolls help reduce roll changes and keep busy labeling operations moving efficiently.

Designed for compatible industrial direct thermal printers, these labels create crisp text, barcodes, addresses, and tracking information without ink, toner, or thermal-transfer ribbons. Heat from the printer activates the thermal coating on the label, providing a simple and efficient solution for businesses printing hundreds or thousands of labels per day.

Our standard 4x6 Direct Thermal Labels – 1,000 Labels/Roll, 4 Rolls/Case provide 4,000 labels per case and are an excellent choice for high-volume shipping and warehouse operations.

Why Choose 3" Core Direct Thermal Labels?

A 3-inch core is commonly used with larger industrial thermal printers designed to accommodate high-capacity label rolls. With 1,000 4x6 labels on each roll, businesses can print for longer periods before stopping to replace label media.

These rolls have an 8-inch outer diameter and are perforated between each label for quick and easy separation.

3" core direct thermal labels are especially well suited for:

  • High-volume shipping and logistics
  • Warehouse and distribution operations
  • Ecommerce order fulfillment
  • Barcode and tracking labels
  • Inventory management
  • Pick-and-pack operations
  • Receiving and product identification
  • Manufacturing and carton labeling
  • Amazon FBA preparation
  • UPS, FedEx, and USPS shipping

White, Colored & Phenol-Free 4x6 Thermal Labels

For everyday shipping, barcode, warehouse, and fulfillment applications, our traditional white 4x6 direct thermal labels provide excellent contrast for text and barcodes.

Businesses that don't need a full case can choose our 4x6 Direct Thermal Labels – 1,000 Labels/Roll, 1 Roll/Case. For higher-volume operations, our 4x6 Direct Thermal Labels – 1,000 Labels/Roll, 4 Rolls/Case provide 4,000 labels per case.

We also offer Phenol-Free, BPA-Free & BPS-Free 4x6 Direct Thermal Labels for businesses seeking a phenol-free direct thermal option while maintaining the convenience and efficiency of high-volume direct thermal printing.

Colored 4x6 Direct Thermal Labels for Better Organization

For operations that benefit from visual identification and color coding, we offer colored 4x6 direct thermal labels in a range of highly visible colors.

Choose from yellow 4x6 thermal labels, green 4x6 thermal labels, orange 4x6 thermal labels, blue 4x6 thermal labels, pink 4x6 thermal labels, and purple 4x6 thermal labels.

Colored labels add a visual cue that can help employees quickly identify packages, inventory, departments, warehouse zones, order types, shipping methods, priorities, or workflow stages. Businesses can create their own color-coding system to make sorting, routing, receiving, and fulfillment easier to manage.

Each colored option maintains the same 4" × 6" size, 3" core, 1,000 labels per roll, and perforated format designed for compatible industrial direct thermal printers.

Compatible with Industrial Direct Thermal Printers

Our 3" core 4x6 direct thermal labels are designed for industrial printers capable of accepting larger label rolls. Compatible printer families include many models from Zebra, SATO, Datamax-O'Neil, Honeywell, TSC, Bixolon, Citizen, Intermec, and other industrial thermal printer manufacturers.

Because printer specifications vary by model, always confirm your printer's core size and maximum roll diameter before ordering. These 3" core rolls have an 8" outer diameter.

If your printer uses a smaller roll, explore our 1" Core Direct Thermal Labels designed for desktop thermal printing applications.

Direct Thermal vs. Thermal Transfer Labels

Direct thermal labels require no ribbon, ink, or toner. The printer's thermal printhead activates the heat-sensitive label material to create the printed image.

Thermal transfer printing works differently and requires a ribbon. Thermal transfer is often selected when an application requires greater resistance or longer-lasting printed information.

If you're unsure which printing technology your operation requires, our Direct Thermal vs. Thermal Transfer Labels Guide can help explain the differences.

FAQ

Can I use direct thermal label rolls with ribbons?

No. Direct thermal label rolls are designed to work without ribbons. The rolls use heat-sensitive material, which, when exposed to the print head, ends up darkening. It completely does away with the need for ink or toner!

Can you put thermal labels in the freezer?

Some are freezer grade and so can stand cold storage. But if you’re planning to do that, it’s best to choose labels with adhesive that’s rated for low temperatures. It makes them ideal for use in refrigerated or frozen environments.

Are direct thermal labels waterproof?

Standard direct thermal labels are not waterproof and may fade or smear when exposed to moisture. For wet or outdoor conditions, consider using weatherproof direct thermal labels or switching to thermal transfer labels with resin ribbons.

Does the USPS require thermal labels?

While USPS does not mandate thermal labels, they are widely accepted and preferred for shipping due to their clarity, durability, and compatibility with common platforms like ShipStation, Shopify, and Etsy.
