FAQ

Can I use direct thermal label rolls with ribbons?

No. Direct thermal label rolls are designed to work without ribbons. The rolls use heat-sensitive material, which, when exposed to the print head, ends up darkening. It completely does away with the need for ink or toner!

Can you put thermal labels in the freezer?

Some are freezer grade and so can stand cold storage. But if you’re planning to do that, it’s best to choose labels with adhesive that’s rated for low temperatures. It makes them ideal for use in refrigerated or frozen environments.

Are direct thermal labels waterproof?

Standard direct thermal labels are not waterproof and may fade or smear when exposed to moisture. For wet or outdoor conditions, consider using weatherproof direct thermal labels or switching to thermal transfer labels with resin ribbons.

Does the USPS require thermal labels?

While USPS does not mandate thermal labels, they are widely accepted and preferred for shipping due to their clarity, durability, and compatibility with common platforms like ShipStation, Shopify, and Etsy.
